Story Weaving with George Fox: departures

April 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Have you ever wondered why George Fox left home? What moved you to set off on a life journey? This is an invitation to experience ourselves as part of the living Quaker history and community through storytelling.

In this session we will use a simple practice called ’Story Weaving’. Story Weaving was developed by Forest Therapy Guide Ben Page. It is a practice in which we respond to a prompt (in this case a story from the Journal of George Fox) by telling each other stories from our own life. While listening, we harvest the wisdom from each story we hear. Finally, our individual stories are interwoven in such a way that it builds a sense of community. In weaving these strands of wisdom together, something new is created, a story about us, by us and for us.

You will receive a prompt to prepare your story in advance (no longer than a page), and will be asked to share your story within the session. All you need is a pen, some blank sheets of paper and a little curiosity.

This is the last in a series of three self-contained, but linked online sessions, each revolving around a different story from the life of George Fox. You may also be interested in:
