QAN at Greenbelt 2024

This is the 50th year of the Christian-based Greenbelt festival, to be held at Boughton House near Kettering, from 23rd to 25th August. The Quaker Arts Network is delighted to be at presence at Greenbelt this year, for the first time, in the form of a QAN gazebo, which will be a welcoming space for exploring, creating, reflecting and finding out about Quaker spirituality and witness.

The Loving Earth Project will be a distinct part of the festival programme. We’ll hold a small exhibition of textile art panels in the workshop tent (Orchard area), and host two Loving Earth workshops there, probably on the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. There will also be a presence in the QAN gazebo (with some materials) so that people can continue (or start) to make their own Loving Earth panels.

If you are interested in this or future events please email qanevents@gmail.com

We are also seeking funds to help support this project. While QAN has underwritten the hire of the Gazebo, this would take a large slice of our reserves and we hope that Friends, Quaker Meetings and others will make donations towards this. This would help enable QAN to underwrite other projects in future, and also demonstrate support for other such initiatives in future. We are welcoming donations for this via our JustGiving campaign.

See the Greenbelt website for more details of this open-air  festival, including the programme, camping arrangements, and tickets. Do come and visit us at the festival, and bring your friends!

Quaker Arts Network at Greenbelt 2024 Slideshow – OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE

The Quaker Arts Network Gazebo at this year’s Greenbelt Festival aims to showcase the creativity of Quakers as a means of outreach to those who might be curious to learn more about Quakerism.

The gazebo will be a space for creative conversations, games and activities and will include a large screen showing a rolling slideshow of images of artworks, photographs, drawings etc etc. They will be grouped in relation to a particular Advice or Query as a means of introducing people to our Advices and Queries.

We hope that you will feel inspired to contribute  1- 3 (max) images each linked to a particular A&Q. These may be of an existing artwork or you might want to create or photograph something especially for the slideshow. We are hoping for a very broad range of responses, creativity takes many, many forms and you definitely don’t have to consider yourself to be an artist to contribute.
