Finding the Hidden World of Early Quakers

October 29, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm

£25

Join Isabella Rosner, Erica Canela and Ben Pink Dandelion for a day event at Witney Masonic Centre which examines the world and lives of early Quakers and includes an exclusive viewing of an exhibition of early Quaker schoolgirl needlework.

This day event, limited to 20 places, examines the world and lives of early Quakers and is centred on an exclusive private viewing of an exhibition of early Quaker schoolgirl needlework. The focus of the exhibit looks at stitching beyond the sampler, centring around an important needlework suite made by 150 years of a single Quaker family.

The exhibition will include cabinets and caskets, mirror frames, and embroidered accessories made at Shacklewell School and a variety of other nonconforming and Anglican schools in every corner of 17th- and 18th-century England.

Please be aware that this event will involve up to two hours of walking and standing.
