Activist Alphabet

November 1 @ 2:00 pm - November 30 @ 3:30 pm

Free

Activist Alphabet is an exhibition of 26 prints and poems created as a response to climate change. The aim of the Alphabet is to help people connect with their own joy in the natural world and personal memories of climate change. I think we are in a crisis of relationships with each other, with nature and the planet. We need to take care of our home, The Earth.

This work began in lock-down with a desire to learn more about the causes of climate change and to help. The project initially took inspiration from protest banners and were quite shouty: “Stop funding the oil industry” or “Capitalism is causing climate change”.I quickly realised shouting rarely works and that part of the climate crisis is a crisis of human relationships; relationships with each other and our relationship with nature and the planet.

People need to share their experiences of the joy of nature and their own personal memories of climate change the open-ended nature of the images and poetry bring an opportunity for discussion.

As part of this exhibition I am organising a talk on 1st November 2pm to 3.30 pm for people to discuss and share including invited speakers, The Exhibition is in the Friends House cafe from 1st to 30th November open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm
