Wild Geese online retreat
January 16, 2021
£40Wild Geese:
An online retreat day, exploring Christian contemplation using Mary Oliver’s poem Wild Geese. (Saturday 16th Jan)
In the Celtic Christian tradition, one of the names for the Holy Spirit is ‘the Wild Goose’. In her poem Wild Geese, Mary Oliver writes:
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
During this online retreat day, we will listen to the harsh and exciting call of the wild geese, exploring how we can discover our place in the family of things. We will use a range of different Christian contemplative practices, including Christian meditation, centering prayer, sacred reading, Quaker worship, imagination exercises and more.
The retreat will include three guided meditation, reflection and sharing sessions, at 10am (for 1.5 hours), at 2pm (for 2 hours) and at 7pm (for 1.5 hour). All times GMT.
There are 6 places available. The suggested donation is £40, but if you can’t afford to donate anything, please do not let that stop you attending. If you would like to book a place, please email sjdonaldson@hotmail.co.uk
