The Mistake – by Michael Mears: live play reading in Edinburgh
November 13, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
MICHAEL MEARS – a live reading of his new play THE MISTAKE about the dropping of the first atomic bomb
The dropping of the first atomic bomb is referred to on the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima as “the mistake”. Written for the 75th anniversary last year, (but delayed due to the pandemic) Michael Mears’ compelling and moving new play THE MISTAKE explores personal stories surrounding that catastrophic event.
Using testimonies and eye-witness accounts, THE MISTAKE interweaves the stories of a survivor, a scientist and a soldier to create a gripping drama – exploring what happens when scientific discoveries unlock the awesome power of nature, and “the genie is let out of the bottle”.
Award-winning actor and writer Michael Mears and Japanese actress You-Ri Yamanaka are making a special trip to Edinburgh on November 13th to give an exclusive reading of the play – ahead of its planned premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe (date TBC).
Don’t miss the chance to see and hear these two wonderful performers bring the play alive in the intimate setting of the Lindisfarne Room at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Edinburgh at 2pm on Saturday November 13th.
There is no charge for this special event but donations on the door will be most welcome to help cover expenses.
