Sing and Rejoice: George Fox, the English Civil Wars and the Beginnings of Quakerism

March 29 @ 10:00 am - December 14 @ 4:00 pm

Included with General Admission

Quaker Tapestry Museum is celebrating the 400th Anniversary of George Fox’s birth with this year’s special exhibition Sing and Rejoice: George Fox, the English Civil Wars and the Beginnings of Quakerism.

The exhibition includes loans from Friends House and Swarthmoor Hall, as well as reproductions from the State Papers at The National Archives.

As a ‘founding father’ of Quakerism, George Fox is one of the most important figures in the history of Nonconformist religion in Britain. Amid the background of the English Civil Wars, many groups began to reconsider the role of the established church in their religious lives. Sing and Rejoice explores this time of great turmoil and persecution, but also of change and hope for the future.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Saturday 14th December. Entry is included with General Admission.
