‘See your Voice’ Craftivism drop in session
September 20, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Yesterday’s dreams shape today’s reality. What future are you dreaming of? Create a stitched dream cloud to ‘see your voice’ in this drop in craft session. All materials are provided. No craft skills are needed, just an open mind.
This drop in session will focus on what changes you would like to see in the world, they may be big or small changes. Participants may wish to draw influence from dreamers and change makers depicted in the Quaker Tapestry, or others, who have helped shape our present day. Your dream, will then feature on a ‘dream cloud’ (like the one in the picture). They are very easy to make taking around 20 minutes in total. Our crafty helpers will be on hand to offer assistance if needed and there will be tea and biscuits to help the creativity flow.
Participants will reflect on change-makers of the past, before stitching a dream for the future onto a fabric ‘dream cloud’, to share publicly and encourage us all to be solution-seekers. Craftivism (craft + activism) is a great way to ‘see your voice’, whilst being absorbed in an act of mindfulness.
This activity is FREE and suitable for anyone aged 12 years or over, please note that under 16’s must have an adult accompanying them.
Sessions are running on;
Friday 20 September: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Saturday 21 September: 10:00am – 12:00pm
The craftivism workshop is related to #DareToDream – 2019’s Unsung Stories project (in conjunction with Heritage Open Days) exploring positive change through gentle protest
