Quakers and Poetry: an online discussion for poets and readers of poetry

January 27, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Poets who are Quakers don’t always write poems on topics that seem close to Quakerism. The anthology A Speaking Silence: Quaker Poets of Today (Indigo Dreams, 2013) provides evidence of this. But is there, nonetheless, a relationship between Quakerism, spirituality and the practice of writing poetry?
Kathleen Bell will introduce and facilitate a discussion on what it might mean to be a Quaker poet today. Poets are encouraged to share their experience and examples of their work. Readers of poetry may wish to share instances of how poetry has – or has not – nourished their spiritual life.

Free.
