Quaker Simplicity Heritage Open Days Talk
September 15, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - September 16, 2023 @ 4:00 pm
FreeCuratorial Talk On Quaker Tapestry Museum’s New Exhibition On Quaker Simplicity.
Our new exhibition explores the evolution of the Quaker testimony of simplicity and how it has been interpreted through the lens of clothing, from 1652 to present. Enhanced with examples from our own collection and the voices of Quakers themselves, we explore the question – what does simplicity mean to you?
In this talk, Curatorial Assistant, Francesca Vine will be looking at the broader historical context behind the exhibition and examining items from the collection in greater depth, as well as exploring how Quaker and non-Quaker ideas around Simplicity have evolved to the present day.
