Creative Writing Group: In Conversation with Loraine Masiya Mponela

August 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join a great presentation by Loraine.

Loraine Masiya Mponela is known to QARN members through participation in events, and especially her poetry. She is as busy as ever … more recently she was granted refugee status and now works for Migrant Voice.

On her 50th birthday she published her second book of poetry ‘Now I sing: 50 poems to celebrate 50 years’ and it includes the poem commissioned by QARN for an event in June 2022: .https://qarn.org.uk/changing-the-conversation-on-asylum-in-the-uk/

Loraine says:

‘I Am buzzing. Thank you all for your kindness, love and support. Hundreds of you have sent your heartfelt messages on my Facebook wall, inbox, story, emails, whatsapp, whatsapp story, telegram, youtube clips, phone, zoom calls-you name it. (I promise you I will read and respond to them all.)

Some of you have sent cash, cards, paid coaching session, paid dinners and tea and cakes. (Some you are still deciding-joke). Its all appreciated.

I publish my second poetry book “Now I Sing”. Yay! This is my little gift to the world. 50 poems to celebrate 50 years of my life. I am just grateful I can celebrate my life this way.

Deep thanks to my entire team, in particular copy editor Lou Sarabadzic, without whom this book could not have been published. Thank you so much. Official birthday celebration and The Book Launch will be on 27 January 2024, in Coventry where I live. #NowISing #Fifty4Fifty #IWasNotBornASadPoet

Thank you very much indeed

LMM’
