Spring 2026 Lunchtime Meetings for Worship

A series of six online meetings for worship, each led by a member of the Quaker Arts Network

Each meeting features a QAN member presenting a short, prepared ministry relating to an art form or theme of their choice, which may include visual art or music, the spoken or written word, photography or film.

3 February 2026 | Tim Neal: Moving Art

“A walking guide, landscape archaeologist and anthropologist, I am now leading and led to observing an arts practice. One of finding. Of impermanence. During meeting for worship I will be led on a walk with an occasional talk to see what attention brings.”

10 February 2026 | Jan Dean: Waiting for the words

Reflections on the writing process and workshopping with children and adults. Jan spent most of her working life as a poet-in-schools. Although she doesn’t write exclusively for children most of her published work is in that sector. An attender for several years at Sidmouth meeting, before that she was an Anglican licensed lay minister who was
a church storyteller.

17 February 2026 | Mark Waistell: Singing Adventurously

Thoughts on songwriting, performing and Quakerism.
Mark returned to “singer-songwriting” after 35 years away doing “the day job”. He now plays at folk clubs, festivals, arts centres - and Quaker Meeting Houses - all over the UK. His third album of original songs, “With A Fine Disregard”, is due out in February. Mark has been a Quaker for 40 years.

24 February 2026 | Diana Lampen

3 March 2026 | Erik Dries: Filling the Void; art makes me ponder

Erik is 68 years old, Dutch, a Quaker from The Hague and a former nursing teacher. Drawing, painting and poetry are hobbies. He loves to visualize a good cause by developing comics, games, cards etc. He created the comic book ‘Simply Quakers’.

10 March 2026 | Kirsten Lavers: Admitting the Possibilities of Error

A&Q 17. Consider the possibility that you may be mistaken.
Kirsten will share glimpses of her drawing approach which has grown from doodling into an in depth engagement with a range of experiences and issues offering possibilities for conversations around our desire for perfection and discomfort with fallibility. You are invited to bring a piece of drawing paper, a favourite pen or pencil and a small saucer or side plate to our worship. Alongside her arts practice Kirsten has worked extensively as a curator, public art project manager and teacher. She is an End of Life Doula and Warden of Jesus Lane Meeting House  www.kirstenlavers.net
