The Light and a Quaker Eye

May 14 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Light and a Quaker Eye:
a presentation of images, or illuminations, to illustrate a Quaker perspective
Duncan Dwinell, Sevenoaks LM and West Kent AM dwinelldd@gmail.com

My presentation is a personal reflection on how I see Light as a metaphor for Quaker Faith and Practice. Natural light and The Quaker Light illuminate our surroundings, however simple or ordinary. They nourish our understanding of life and each other.
Using around 100 images and quotations from Quaker sources, the presentation responds to Advices & Queries, Simplicity, Quiet Stillness, The Journey, Windows as Openings and an Afterword for further reflection or discussion.
I am an amateur photographer. I have had awards from Kent Wildlife Trust and KCC Environment as well as a piece selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023. Quaker Arts Network invited me to contribute a series of images to the Quaker presence at the Greenfest Festival in the summer of 2024 to illustrate a set of Advices and Queries. This presentation has grown out of that initiative.
I am happy to ‘host’ a presentation and discussion online via Zoom to groups of at least 5. Contact me to arrange a mutually suitable time or look out for announcements on the Quaker Arts Network website, Kent Quakers and Quaker Space. Contact me if you or your meeting would like me to come to deliver the presentation, for expenses, but no fee.
If a taster session would help, please ask and I can make arrangements via Zoom or a small pdf selection sent via email attachment.
In peace and friendship, Duncan
